Our learning may be virtual, but the people who make Nexford University happen are very real. Meet one of our world-class team members: introducing Dr Joan Ilagan

Dr Joan Ilagan is on a personal mission to remove barriers to understanding the interconnected nature of learning and the real world.

Assistant professor, and part of the executive team at Nexford, Dr Ilagan believes that sophisticated communication is the key to success in her specialist field of finance. She wants to elevate learners beyond academia for its own sake, and to promote a deeper understanding of how everything you learn at Nexford relates to real-world scenarios.

“What I want to change about education is the removal of barriers.”

Dr Ilagan has eight years’ combined professional and academic experience working primarily in the financial services industry. She’s an active member of the Philippine Council for Deans and Educators of Business and she teaches management, marketing, finance, economics, and hospitality courses. She holds a DBA from Colegio De San Juan de Letran, Philippines.
